Weight Loss, The Essential Guide - Review & Competition

Need-2-Know produce a huge range of essential guide books for young people, parents, teachers and professionals.  They cover a wide variety of topics – everything from guides about infertility to child obesity to gardening.  Most topics that you can think of are covered.  I was given the opportunity to read and review two of their books and the first one I chose was ‘Caring for Your Dog, The Essential Guide’ which I reviewed here and the second book, which I’ve just read is ‘Weight Loss, The Essential Guide’:

"Live better, lose weight...

Weight Loss – The Essential Guide is the ultimate self-help guide to losing and maintaining weight effectively and healthily. Written by a practising nutritional therapist, this book offers practical tips on how to set and achieve weight loss goals, how to eat a healthy, nutritious diet, and support weight loss with an exercise programme.

Research shows that we are more likely to achieve and maintain dietary changes if we understand how a change will benefit us and if we are provided with the tools to make the changes.
Sara Kirkham explains in an easy-to-understand way the physiology behind weight gain and weight loss, the Energy Balance Equation and why it is so important, and how to calculate your metabolic rate.

Alongside the information on the science of weight loss, there are recipes and shopping lists to help the reader get started and practical tips on using food diaries, cutting calories and setting SMART weight loss goals.

For years Mum and I have struggled with our weight, we’ve tried so many different diets between us.  It is even more difficult for me now as due to my health problems I am unable to exercise.  This book isn’t a fad diet, it contains sensible, credible information for people who want to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight Loss, the Essential Guide will help you set realistic goals, plan meals, and helps you change your eating habits for good.  It covers everything you can think of, and is really well written.  It is easy to understand, unlike some diet books that can be quite confusing.  I’d recommend this book to anyone who wants to start eatling more healthily and to lose some weight.

The guide is priced at just £9.99 and can be purchased at
